Ferry Tragedies

This will perhaps become one of my shortest blogs because I just want to say my opinion. I think that it is easy for the owners to let the old ferries travel like that overloaded because they are not riding it. It is just too bad for the people with low incomes to resort to riding those ferries so they can just go home for the holidays and then sinking in the middle of the ocean. I wish the owners would also take care of the lives of their passengers who in the end make them rich. Life is fragile along with death comes the fact that the people they leave behind also become broken for a long while. For the owners, it is just easy for you to use these old ferries/barges for your business because you won't be riding it anytime soon.

Our Seasons Are Like Human Moods

Don't you agree that our changing seasons are like our moods. We feel the happiest during the merry months of November and December. We feel depressed during cloudy and windy months even on rainy ones as well. We feel sensual during summers and we also loose our cool literally during summers. We also feel balanced during Spring just like how everything around us during that time. Im a very emotional person and sometimes how I behave depends on my moods. My mind cannot really take control of how I act coz my moods at most times get the best of me, so m point is..after all this joyful times high times comes the low times..the crash after the super duper rise and everything falls on your face..all the money lost to have those good times but its all worth it anyways. However hindi na nga festive yung mood. Wala ng reason to celebrate and smile and give cheer. If only it were Christmas and New Year every month noh..hindi kaya tayo magsawa din.As long as it is something not often done it is something thrilling.I guess most of us aren't routine based people after all. We crave for the thrill and I mean who would not right. We crave for the adrenaline rush and the kick of just letting loose and going out of the ordinary. Anyways I am just basically ranting this early on because sooner or later since time goes by so fast..it would be New Year and after that hurrah ..comes another ordinary time..another ordinary day back to all the usual routine..back to the reality..back to our 340 days of ordinary..Anyways I am not being sad about it.Im just feeling a bit anxious about the end of all these festivities.I mean we can always choose to be ordinary or extraordinary..and its up to us all the time..

December Night Sky

Nothing is like December's night sky. One of the best things about the winter season is the night sky. It is really amazing. The sky is full of illuminating diamonds. They all shine brightly as if joining humanity in celebration of a joyous season. There has been debates in the past that the birth of Christ is not really in December, and it could be true but as for me there is no better season for it than December. I cannot imagine Christmas in the Summer or during rainy days. This season is just right to be merry and give stuff to friends and relatives. Oooops i am sidetracking..
December night sky.. the most prominent stars are the three kings stars or Orion's belt stars. You can clearly see them at a clear night sky. It is also the best time to watch meteors descend. At the end of all the shopping you should do for food and for gifts, you should try looking up at the night sky and you will immediately know the reason for the season.

Opinion on Makeunders

MAKEUNDERS... what the heck is that?.. Lately we have been witness to a new trend, makeunders of famous celebs. This trend is a huge blah. I mean look at the pictures. They still put powders on their faces. They still have some chapstick on their lips so it really defeats the purpose of showing ur real face to the world because they still put on a bit of foundation and some nude make up. I think I just got irritated because they are trying to tell us they look pretty even without makeup on but they never really go to any event without makeup on even in their movies come on. This trend is totally blah.. no other perfect word but blah..pure bs

Maguindanao Massacre Insight

I don't even know how to react to this terrible , inhuman, heinous crime. This proves the power of anger and greed. I pray for the justice especially for the innocent victims who became the collateral damage of the two political families competing for political power.

This Is It - the movie in loving memory of MJ

Sayang!! its the first word that came to mind when I saw how much Mj and his group really prepared for his THIS IS IT tour. It would have been his greatest or one of the best. He can still dance like there is no tomorrow. He can still move his hips like any young dancer. He can still sing his songs very well.I was able to catch a glimpse to how a perfectionist he really is.He still manages to be one of the main brains to the creative side of his concert. He is not a musician but he can give good tips to the musical director. He also knows how to captivate the audience's attention with his fingers and with his feet. It is a movie that will make you miss MJ. I especially like the part where he mentioned his brothers and kids after doing a round of Jackson 5 songs. He really meant it when he mentioned his family. That part was like a semi premonition. Its not like I am a close friend of Michael Jackson's that's why I miss him ..I miss him maybe because there seems to be no living musical great anymore..all of them have moved on to the after life.It makes me sad in a way.

Seasonal Affective Disorder

Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD is a condition wherein one gets depressed or moody because of the changing season. I don't really know if I have this but then again I am diagnosed with other stuff too so who knows (bite me na )..Well i guess most people have this wherein you feel the coldness of the wind or the gloomy skies and you feel sad coz of it for some unknown reason. You just feel being in your room and curling up so you can just rest and close your eyes and let the world go around without you. I guess i have this condition a month before my bday. I guess its because I will get older meaning I will realize that I have been here on earth for this long without much progress in terms of social skills rudiments after all. Anyhow I also feel the autumn wind and it feels as if days are just so quick that in a few months it will 2009 will culminate already and welcome another year. I am not yet ready for another year of muddling through again. I don't really know what to do for this gloomy SAD feeling except that I have to go through with my daily activities and go on. I mean how do you catch a cloud and pin it down ? I guess like that line from that Christmas song, Well we just have to muddle through somehow.

The Kite Runner

This I think was a movie that won the Best Oscar award for Foreign Language film. This movie is from Afghanistan. It is one of the best movies you have to see if you are wondering about how life is in Afghanistan as well as it's history over the past 30 years.I now understand Afghanistan better because of this movie. This movie deserves the award it reaped. I give this four and half stars rating.

Ondoy Floods Insights

Whew! Yes, that is exactly the word I had when I saw the devastations in the neigboring places in Cainta. Our place, Greenwoods Village is sandwiched by Pasig and Cainta. Both places have been badly hit by Ondoy rains. Anyhow, what happened to Cainta is a huge flash flood but the one in Pasig whose roads we take to get out of our village and to go to the city is still flooded up to now.We have to take the back road in Taytay to get out and get to work. Its a troublesome route and it is also tiring since we are commuters. However I realized later on that this is a much better predicament than what other Filipinos are in. They have lost so many things and others even lost loved ones.It is so hard trying to recover from such a tragedy.
I think there are lots of things we should learn from this tragedy AND it will be such a shame if we still dont realize and ACT on it. We are a country surrounded by waters and a tropical country at that and it is no wonder that typhoons will always hit us and Ondoy will not be the last. I think we should also have plans in the future of planting trees in cities. In lots where we can allot for trees. Trees are indeed one of man's truest bestfriends. We then realize that even the tallest and strongest of structures will not match the power of nature. We should also think of ways how to have a better and effective flood control system AND ONE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS. We should include flood control system in the future president's top agenda.
Another realization is that you should always be friendly with your neighbors no matter what. The last realization i have is that Filipinos are so compassionate, helpful and hopeful. We still manage to smile and we still manage to help with what little we have.I think we should not forget that as much as we are our brother's keeper , we are also mother nature's keeper and this should be our priority more than anything else right now. Mother nature is poking us way too hard for us to wake up to her call, let's not ignore.

Ugly Truth

This movie is a funny movie no wonder it also became a hit in U.S. The movie earned good reviews mainly because of Gerard Butler's comedic portrayal of an alpha male and Katherine Heigl's portrayal of the common controlling woman trying to snag a man. The two definitely has chemistry on this film and they made it work for this film.Like all romedy(romantic comedy) movies of course the main characters end up together not really married but together but people still watch it because it makes us feel good that after all that trouble our main heroes still end up being with each other. One of the highlights which for me is a breakthrough which other comedy films have never done before is the use of the vibrator panty with a remote control. If you see the film you will know what I mean. I give this movie 3.5 stars!

Review on The Proposal

The Proposal starred Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. It is a funny film thanks to Ryan's comedic skills.Sandra Bullock on the other hand played the stiff boss pretty well. The movie however lacked the substance on how love was actually developed between them.I think this movie has marked Reynolds' niche in the romantic comedy genre. This would not be a movie where you end up gushing and longing for a significant other. This is a movie where you would laugh more than do that.I also don't see the romantic chemistry between the two but they do work well as partners in making a comedic film.I give this movie 3 stars out of five after all it is entertaining.

One Classy Woman with A Great Love Story

President Cory Aquino was one classy woman. She shared with us her kindness among other things she has done for the country. We can all relate to her kindness and sincerity. She shared with us her great love story. Her life was a lengthy love story between her and her husband,Ninoy Aquino. She continued his fight to show her love for him and for the country that needed her.She will be remembered always as the one famous Filipino with the classiest life and the classiest burial.

The President Who Campaigned for Prayer

I was just five years old when Edsa I happened.I could still remember how my late younger brother John-John was still shouting Cowee Cowee Cowee along with the other people we see on the television. The late President Cory Aquino became the voice of freedom at that time. She continued what Benigno Aquino started. She faught for him, her family and eventually she faught for all of us because she believed in equality for all. There was a report that also said that Pres. Aquino was a humble president. She never abused her power even in the little ways like using the wang wang.Among all the things she has done I guess one that stands out the most is her being the model of great faith that during adverse times she would always advise anyone to pray. She would just pray and for her it was the greatest weapon against anything. We believed her because we see her doing it, not like other people who tell us to have faith but we can't relate well because we don't see an example. In a way I would agree with one of the facebookers saying she should be considered a saint because I think she has lived a life of less sins among us all.She was simple in her ways and humble in her achievements. We can see her modesty in her face and in her clothes.Everything she did she did because it will make her closer to heaven.I think she is there now with our hero, Ninoy Aquino. Just like Ninoy Aquino she is also our hero, a hero who will always campaign for the power of prayer even in heaven.

The allure of the Vamps

Vampires have always attracted the interest of so many for ages. We often wonder if they are indeed monsters we should be scared of if they do exist. We often wonder if they still feel human emotions despite their thirst for human blood. Can they still care after all? Shows /movies like True Blood and Twilight have tapped into this curiousity. They show the humane side to a vampire not the barbaric side that we have seen in stories about Dracula. The vamps in these shows are handsome and can attract anyone they like to suck blood from yet they choose to mainstream to act like they are just one of us.It is no wonder why a lot of us (yes including me) are hooked to these shows. It is a great challenge for them to stop their urge and to fight their very own nature. The next highlight for those shows is the romantic relationship that develops between them and their kind hearted and selfless girls but that is one of the boring aspects of the shows because its already a given. The main point we are all excited to see is the eventual transformation of the girls transform from humans to vamps as their wives. It is also exciting to see how the evil vamps find the girls yummier to eat or have after developing a relationship with the vamp which means they are no different from humans where people attached to someone else seem more attractive to most people than those who are singles.

top five people I find beautiful/good looking in the Vamp shows (apart from the main cast):
top 5 - Alice Cullen played by Ashley Greene
top 4- Esme Cullen - Elizabeth Reaser
top 3 - Lafayette - Nelsan Ellis
top 2 - Tara -Rutina Wesley
top 1- Dr. Carlisle - Peter Faccinelli

the Legacy of Michael Jackson

I haven't been online much coz our hd crashed. I think the world is touched by the death of Michael Jackson because he is one of the few living legends. Most artists now are mediocre. He was a genius. It's just sad that everyone noticed him when he died. No company would even insure him anymore when he was still alive. I can liken him to Vincent Van Gogh. He was greatly noticed when he died. I think everyone was gripped with loneliness when we learned of his death mainly because he was not only the strongest music when we were growing up but we also never saw him become unfair to anyone. He always paid everyone well. He never showed any sign of arrogance to anyone. He was a manchild but he was a kind heart. His greatest legacy is not just his music but his kindness. He was more than fair even to those alleged victims of molestation of his. We will miss his presence. The king of pop and we can all agree that no one else can ever claim that title.

21 Guns lyrics

I think this song is appealing to me more now that I have watched Transformers. I think it has become a romantic/sweet song for me.for my s.o.

Do you know what's worth fighting for,
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone

When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky (x2)

you and I.

Transformers 2 and the Matrix of Leadership

I just saw the movie today with my brother. This is our bonding movie. All in all i give it four stars. You have to give it to the computer/technical guys who made those images of the robots making them transform in a very fascinating way like they are really real. Bumblebee rocked in this movie. He actually kicked the ass of one of the Dicepticons. There are some things in the movie that is predictable like the alien woman pursuing Sam.The chemistry between Shia and Megan Fox is evident this time around however Megan seems to be consciously and always pouting her lips a lot making all the guys in the cinema happier. I really think she can pull off the Lara Croft role because she has the fierce eyes without trying too hard just like Angelina not that she can be the next Angelina. I am just saying she can be Lara Croft but never Angelina. Besides it is better to build your own niche in the big Hollywood industry. She should give drama a try after she does Lara Croft. Shia on the other hand has a good looking geeky boyish appeal. He can't look tough but he really looks kind and trustworthy. I can tell that the director really worked hard for this movie and I can understand the burn out of Michael Bay that made him say that this would be his last Transformers film. Watch out for the following:
1. Bumblebee's rocking moves
2. the ancestors
3. Mikayla's pouty lips
4. Sam's transformation as part of the all spark and as a leader
5. Optimus Prime in the woods
6. songs that we can currently hear in our favorite radio stations like Rx (Manila)

President Obama's Swatting Skills

PETA condemned the action of President Obama when he swatted a fly that was bothering him while being interviewed by John Harwood of CNBC. I think this incident is really an eye opener to Obama because he is the president of the most powerful state and all his actions are being judged from what he eats to what he kills. Maybe he might also be scrutinized if he kills a bed bug or a mosquito that could bite him. It is really hard to be under the scrutiny of the public eye because even swatting an insect can be judged as a bad thing. He is after all human and his action was just a natural response from a training he got from his family on how to deal with flies in the house when he was young. They should also scrutinize the cleaning staff because if the place was cleaned well flies would not be flying around like that. I think this also sends a message that Obama is just like most common people. He sees a fly and it is bugging him incessantly and he swats it. Most people would do it. Other elite ones who never had to deal with flies or would have someone kill the flies for them would find it really yucky.

MTV Movie Award 2009's Best Portion (for me)

The best part in the MTV Movie Awards 2009 for me was the satirical/comical portion that the host Andy Rosenberg did about action movie stars not looking or turning back when there is an explosion. They said cool guys don't turn back on an explosion. They just walk away in slow motion. Yeah its so true, why don't they look back anyways just for one look or better yet why don't they run. In shows like C.S.I. however they would really run and dock.

My review on Juno

Juno is a funny and refreshing movie. The heavy subject of having teenaged pregnancy which is the focus of the film has been shown through the perspective of the pregnant teenager ,Juno. She is not your typical promiscuous teenager in fact she just did it more out of curiosity not knowing the full weight of some rare chance of a big consequence. The teenaged father is Bleeker the awkward yet cute young boy whose passion for jogging helps him escape the harsh reality of what had happened.Juno faced the situation in a realistic approach seeking an adoptive pair for her child as soon as she gives birth. She felt different being stared at a school with a bulging tummy but she was never crying in the movie always just feeling animosity towards the situation and thinking like a passive rock star without a care in the world. She develops raport with the adoptive parents she chose, the soon to be adoptive mother is Jennifer Garner. The Alias star plays a very girly role whose fulfillment in life lies in her hands by making her a mother. The adoptive father is a commercial music composer who Juno relates very much with and soon she later finds out that the relationship of the husband and wife was going down the drain. She soon realized that maturity doesnt come with age. Juno is realistic and finds out soon enough she cant raise the baby and be a highschool student still so she gives her baby to Jennifer Garner and realized in the process that she does love Bleeker and the sweetest thing she did was give him a carton of tic tacs it was her surrender to reality and truth. The movie must have made teenage pregnancy look cooler than ever but there are lessons that should not be missed. When a girl or woman screws up and get pregnant there should be no logic that should tell her to kill the life inside her. Every woman is a temple of life and abortion is always killing a life no matter how small it is. Parents should not abandon their children when they screw up but support them even if it hurts them because nothing will change its already there and abandoning is an escape of immaturity.I guess in the end we all have choices and those choices bring in consequences, the thing is the consequences can suck last a lifetime but the wonderful thing about life which the movie showed is that life goes on and change is constant and tomorrow Juno wakes up without the bump anymore but responsibly lost it.

MTV Movie Awards 2009

This year's MTV movie awards can also be called the Twilight Awards. The stars of the hit movie have been catapulted to fame that their presence in a show gives higher ratings. Twilight is a good movie but i can really say that it is not one of the best FIVE for 2009 but it is very entertaining. The stars of the movie have gained so much popularity that today they can't leave their homes without putting on some kind of disguise to at least have some peace. It is the price of fame and money. blah blah. Anyways back to MTV Movie Awards, the host is funny but not as funny as Ben Stiller. It would have been funnier if it was tandem of Adam Rosenberg and Bruno right. I liked that part where they were singing a sort of operatic song with all the cussing. I really thought that the Best Kiss should have gone to the Milk movie characters. It is always hard doing a kissing scene between two straight guys. I especially liked the part where they handed an achievement award to Ben Stiller. They made a parody of the Oscar's new thing of presenting an award.I think Kirsten Stewart should eat some more because she can't carry things as heavy as the popcorn award.Bruno should have made another appearance. All in all this year's awards may not be as rowdy as the previous ones but it had Twilight (which I secretly like) and Bruno. We should not fail to watch so we have a balance of things because MTV = hilarious as Oscars = glorious. It glorifies movies which Oscars may not even consider as one of the best in a hundred years.

a new trend in music these days

I noticed a new trend in the songs lately. Halo,Breathe Slow and Battlefield. These songs have that one uncommon word that is repeated a lot of times in the chorus. These songs are some of those LSS (last song syndrome) songs that seeps into our subconsciousness little by little and before you know it you are singing the song over and over again and you are learning to like it more each day. It just can't be just any word, it has to be a strong word that a person who would sing it for the first time will find it somewhat weird. For Breathe Slow its compooooo oh oh sure. It's an intereting word describing a real lady. It has to be a word that describes an emotion best. For love is a battlefield. A strong word for a modern time. I think Shakespeare can lend a hand to these creative song writers and give them different options for a strong word for their choruses. I wonder whats the next word that would give me LSS. Could it be a big word like flabbergasted flaaaabbergaaa ah ah ah sted.

Good Friday

Why is it that we, Catholics call the day Jesus died Good Friday. I don't think this was ever explained to me before. I think its because this is the day Jesus fulfilled his mission and that is the best day in his life and because of that day we are able to Know how God is so good.

new addiction daing and fried rice

Im getting addicted to my mom's fried rice and danggit. I really like the small danggits and I like it coz they are crunchier. My mom calls the fried rice calo-calo, that is the cebuano term for fried rice. There are certain foods in Cebu that they really make great like utan, danggit, puso, suman/budbud , sikwate and mangoes. I love Cebu as well because the people are just ever helpful and they will never say no when you ask for help if its something they can do. There are great places in Cebu as well.

random thoughts for the Holy Week

When I was young holy week meant no tv, praying, confession is a must, going to church to do the stations of the Cross well its still is but now that Im 28 I feel like anyday can be holy week just like Christmas can be everyday if you are rich. I feel like most of my peers see it as a time to sleep more and go on a spa to have a massage or go to beach to get a tan and have great pics and somehow swim or kayak. Im widening my horizons now and Im not the same person who conforms to what the society dictates like being your own individual because of self preservation.

The Zahir

This is a book from the famous writer Paulo Coelho. Its a story about a couple who broke up due to lack of passion in their relationship. The stronger character in the story is the wife who wanted the passion back in their lives so bad. She wants her husband to believe in himself again and learn how to fight for the things that matter to him. She went to live in a far away land in Kazakhstan. She did it to see if her husband will be looking for her. The husband took so many years before she can ever get to her. He eventually realized that everything in his life was about her. She was his zahir. Zahir means the one person that gives your life direction. It is a story about passion for work and love. It made me realize that relationships really means relating to the person completely otherwise at one point you will end up wanting to put things in perspective again.

take on Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire won the best picture award in the 2009 Oscars. It is a small movie that earned so much hype in just three months. I have not seen it yet but I am sure its a good one. A lot of people have said that its a movie that can move you. I think a movie that moves people to think and feel feelings they did not think they would feel when they enter the cinema is one of the most important component of a good movie. Some Indians did not like the title because they think that being called a dog in the slums is so degrading and yes it is , well if you take it literally. Its a common term for the poor in India but the movie makers think that its just a title and nothing much. The movie reminds us that the poor and the rich have the same basic need to live in this world and that is love or in this movie its called the destiny.,..
